Quality & Certifications

ATI Specialty Alloys and Components has developed and implemented an Integrated Business Management System (IBMS) to protect our employees, assets and the environment, to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer, statutory, and regulatory requirements, and to address satisfaction of interested parties through the effective application of the IBMS, including continual improvement and the prevention of nonconformity. The IBMS encompasses system requirements of the following functional groups: Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety, and Maintenance.

The IBMS Policy is:

We are committed to continually improving our integrated business management system and processes, while managing risk and meeting all applicable compliance obligations.

Our responsibility is to protect our employees, customers, assets and the environment, while providing products and services of the highest quality consistent with customer and other requirements.

Environmental Services

It is ATI's policy to continue to maintain and operate all its businesses in compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations and permits. We recognize the need to protect the environment and the importance of the measured and efficient use of the earth's natural resources.

We take an active role in discovering and implementing means to protect our environment and our natural resources, which enable better use of resources and sustainability.

Engineered Wetlands

In an effort to protect our state's vital aquatic habitat, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) adopted a new Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) that Direct Dischargers can place into the Willamette River. This TMDL is intended to lower river temperature providing an optimum spawning and rearing environment for endangered salmon.

In response to the new requirements, Albany and Millersburg partnered with ATI to find a solution to solve this common challenge. The Engineered Wetlands is a solution that provides ATI and Albany/Millersburg with an opportunity to not only reduce their impact on the environment, but also to improve the habitat of the Willamette River far into the future.

Radiation Advisory Committee

The State of Oregon recognizes its responsibility to protect the public health and safety in relation to the various peaceful uses of radiation and radioactive materials.

The United States federal government has commissioned the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to regulate the peaceful uses of radioactive materials within the country and the State of Oregon has entered into an agreement with the NRC to provide the regulatory operations that are necessary to assure that the federal rules and guidelines are adhered to within the state.

One element of the program is a provision for the Director of the Oregon Health Authority to appoint a Radiation Advisory Committee to advise the Oregon Health Authority on matters relating to radiological health and radiation protection. The committee consists of eight persons who, because of their training and experience, are qualified to advise the authority on such matters and they serve at the pleasure of the director.

Health & Safety

ATI Specialty Alloys and Components has an aggressive incident prevention program that involves every employee.

Our teams perform Hazard Abatement sessions daily to continuously improve our workplace and to drive safety to involve every crew member. Our Safety and Health Director and Manager provide ongoing Safety Leadership training each quarter that teaches leadership techniques, updates in policy and answers to questions.

We recognize those who have done an outstanding job looking out for their co-workers. By 2011, the employees at ATI Specialty Alloys and Components accomplished one million man hours without a lost time injury and we celebrate that success.

With the dedication and commitment all of our employees have shown to safety and health, we are certain to continue to attain greater successes in all other areas of our business.

We have a specialized Joint Health and Safety Committee that is continuously trained on OSHA standards and regulations. This Committee performs monthly inspections in each area throughout the plant. ATI also has a Life Threatening Process Owner Program which places focus on Lockout Tryout, Fall Protection, Confined Space and Machine Guarding. The Process Owner teams are made up of trained subject experts who perform annual audits of their area of expertise to ensure compliance and effective training.

ATI has a robust safety program that includes safety policies, training, enforcement, employee and management participation, visual awareness, a safety committee, personal commitment pledges, incentives for reporting and mentoring each other and a wellness program.
