Proven to Perform
Petroleum travels thousands of miles before it gets refined and put into your gas tank … and the journey often starts at the bottom of the sea.
Components for technically challenging or extreme environments require materials with unique combinations of properties—and we’re a known innovator and leader in meeting these challenges. For example, in medical imaging our niobium-titanium alloys are the standard for building superconducting magnets that operate at near absolute zero temperatures in MRI machines. For the aerospace industry, we produce niobium alloys that combine high formability with the strength to withstand a sustained 1500°C rocket blast. And the highly pure zirconium alloys we provide to the nuclear industry withstand extreme heat, radiation and corrosion within a reactor core. We are solving the world’s challenges through Materials Science.
Jet engine components, oil pipelines, military armor, and smokestack scrubbers for ships and power plants — all of these diverse products have one thing in common: The material they’re made of originates as specialty sheet, PRS or plate from ATI Specialty Rolled Products. It could be high-strength titanium, corrosion-resistant nickel, specialty stainless steel or some other sophisticated alloy, worked into coil, strip, foil or plate for efficient, high-speed manufacturing.
Standard Stainless Sheet Products (SSSP) is focused on standard products for the North American market, operating in a lean cost structure focused on profitably competing in this highly commoditized market. SSSP includes the A&T Stainless joint venture, a 50-50 joint venture with an affiliate company of Tsingshan Group (Tsingshan) to produce 60-inch wide stainless sheet products for sale in North America.
